Gettit Returns & Refunds
Version: 2026-08-01. Effective: 25 August 2026.
This page summarises how returns and refunds work for Shipped orders on Gettit. The binding terms are the Gettit Terms of Service (clauses 7 to 9C), the Timings Schedule and the Fees Schedule — if anything here reads differently from those documents, the Terms of Service and the Schedules are what apply.
What qualifies for a return
A return qualifies where a Shipped item did not arrive, or is materially not as described, significantly different from the Listing, faulty, unsafe, damaged in transit, counterfeit, or not the item ordered. Change of mind and buyer's remorse are not, on their own, qualifying reasons, although a Seller may still choose to accept one.
How to start a return
Raise it in the Gettit app before contacting the Seller or sending anything back. Starting a return in the app is what keeps your payment held while it is sorted out, and lets us issue a prepaid return label and track the parcel. A return arranged privately, outside the app, is not protected the same way — your payment may already have been released to the Seller.
How long you have
You can raise a return any time up to the end of the confirmation window shown on your order — currently 48 hours after Australia Post records the item delivered. Once that window passes with no return or dispute raised, the held payment is released to the Seller and the order is treated as accepted. Every deadline that applies to an order is shown on it in the Gettit app; the full set is in the Timings Schedule at gettit.com.au/legal/timings.
What you get back
The plain rule: if you do not end up with the item, you get your money back — the item price, the buyer protection fee, and the shipping you paid. Return postage is met by Gettit or the Seller for a qualifying return, and is never deducted from your refund. The only exception is a parcel that comes back undeliverable because of your own delivery details, your refusal to accept it, or a change of mind — even then, the item price and the buyer protection fee are still refunded in full, and only the original shipping charge and a flat $9.95 return handling fee are retained. Full detail is in the Fees Schedule at gettit.com.au/legal/fees.
Refund timing
Once a return is resolved in your favour, or a Seller accepts it, the refund is normally initiated within two business days, back to your original payment method. How long it then takes to appear depends on your bank or card provider.
If it can't be agreed between you
Either side can ask Gettit to decide. We review the evidence from both sides against our published resolution approach and make a determination, with reasons — final and binding on how the order is settled on the Platform, and it does not affect any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Selling on Gettit
As a Seller, you agree to accept a qualifying return and bear its cost. You have an inspection window, currently 48 hours after a returned item arrives, to accept the return or tell us, with evidence, why it should not be accepted. Full detail is in clause 9B of the Terms of Service.
