What Gettit is
Gettit is an online marketplace where people in Australia buy and sell second-hand items. Gettit connects buyers and sellers. Gettit is a venue, not the seller: Gettit does not own, store, inspect or authenticate the items listed, and the contract for each item is between the buyer and the seller.
Who is behind Gettit
Gettit is Australian-owned. Gettit Pty Ltd is owned by Nucleus360, a software company based in Melbourne, Australia.
Gettit opened to the public on 31 July 2026; national launch was 31 August 2026.
Gettit is provided by Gettit Pty Ltd (ACN 699 431 886, ABN 55 699 431 886). The parent company of Gettit Pty Ltd is Nucleus360.
Where Gettit runs
Gettit's website, app servers and database run in Sydney, Australia. Some of Gettit's service providers process limited information outside Australia, as the Privacy Policy explains.
How Gettit works
- List for free. A seller lists an item with photos, an honest description and a price. Sellers pay no fee when an item sells.
- The buyer pays through Gettit. For shipped orders and Secured Pickups, Gettit holds the payment rather than sending it straight to the seller.
- The seller sends the item. For a shipped order, the seller sends it with a prepaid, tracked Australia Post label.
- The payment is released. On a shipped order, Gettit releases the payment to the seller after delivery, once the buyer confirms the item or the 48-hour confirmation window after Australia Post’s delivered scan ends without an issue being raised. On a Secured Pickup, Gettit releases the payment when the buyer gives the seller a 6-digit code at the handover.
Fees at a glance
- Listing and selling: free. Sellers pay no fee when an item sells and receive the full item price.
- Shipped orders: the buyer pays a buyer protection fee of 7.5% of the item price plus $1.50, plus postage.
- Secured Pickup: the buyer pays a buyer protection fee of 3.5% of the item price.
- Free local pickup: no Gettit fees and no commission.
All amounts are in Australian dollars. Optional extras, such as boosting a listing, are priced before purchase. Every fee is set out in the Fees Schedule.
Trust and safety
- Gettit members must verify both their email address and their mobile number before they can buy, sell or send messages on Gettit.
- Gettit Protection is Gettit’s own purchase guarantee for shipped orders paid through Gettit. Gettit Protection covers items that do not arrive or are materially not as described, up to the amount the buyer paid. It covers shipped orders only.
- On a Secured Pickup, the buyer’s payment is held until the handover. It is held, not covered by Gettit Protection: Gettit Protection applies to shipped orders only.
- Free local handovers are private transactions between members, paid directly, and are not covered by Gettit Protection. Members transact at their own risk.
- Gettit does not inspect or authenticate items. Read each listing carefully and keep payments on Gettit.
