Beautiful old oak blanket box with wonderful natural colour, grain and aged patina.
A substantial, solidly made piece with a lovely honey/golden oak finish, panelled construction, original-style metal fittings and a hinged lift-up lid. The timber has beautiful natural figuring and character throughout.
I believe this dates from approximately 1900–1925, making it around 100–125 years old. The style is typical of the late Victorian/Edwardian to early 20th-century period.
A very useful piece of antique furniture that would make a beautiful blanket chest, linen storage box, toy chest or simply an attractive feature piece at the end of a bed.
Condition: Good antique condition with the expected marks, minor scratches and signs of age and use. Beautiful original aged patina. Please see photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
Timber: Appears to be oak, with the interior/base possibly made from a secondary timber, as was common in older furniture. It has an antique UK made Secure Lever brass lock but no key.
