Beautiful antique child’s wooden ironing board with original vintage cast-iron toy iron, a lovely piece of domestic history and a wonderful display item for collectors.
The ironing board has a traditional folding wooden X-frame, old painted finish and original aged fabric covering. It has a charming, genuinely well-used appearance that is difficult to replicate.
The accompanying small cast-iron iron has a lovely turned red wooden handle and substantial weight. The two pieces make a particularly appealing matched set.
📅 Dating: I would estimate this set to be circa 1920s–1930, based on the construction, materials, hardware and style. I cannot guarantee an exact date, as there are no visible manufacturer’s markings. It was mine as a child but my parents got it second hand in The Netherlands.
Condition: Antique/vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including worn/chipped paint, aged fabric, surface rust/patina to the iron and signs of previous use. Please study photos carefully as they form part of the description.
This would make a fantastic antique toy, primitive country décor, sewing/laundry display or collector’s piece. A very unusual item and increasingly difficult to find complete with its original iron.
