SEGA Superstars Tennis is an arcade-style sports game developed by Sumo Digital and published by SEGA. It crosses over iconic characters, courts, and music from across SEGA’s history into a fast-paced tennis format.
Here are the key details about how the game works:
Playable Characters: Features 16 familiar characters from various classic SEGA franchises, including Sonic the Hedgehog, AiAi (Super Monkey Ball), Ulala (Space Channel 5), Amigo (Samba de Amigo), NiGHTS, and Alex Kidd.
Themed Courts: Matches take place on vibrant courts inspired by classic games, such as Sonic's Green Hill Zone, Jet Set Radio's Shibuya Downtown, and Space Channel 5's Spaceport 9.
Superstar States: Each character has a unique special ability that can be triggered once a meter fills up during play (for example, Sonic transforms into Super Sonic and hits the ball in fast zig-zags).
Minigames & Modes: Alongside standard singles and doubles tournament matches, the game includes creative minigames inspired by retro SEGA properties like The House of the Dead, Space Harrier, and Puyo Pop Fever.
