RARE COMPLETE SET: 2012–2014 Southern Sky $5 Domed Silver Proof Coins, Coloured
A must-have for serious numismatists—the critically acclaimed Southern Sky collection (Crux, Pavo, and Orion), featuring signature domed shaping, gorgeous colour printing and solid silver specs.
The innovative dome shaped coins are packaged in their original presentation tins. The inserts have been designed in such a way that each coin can be presented standing upright for clear viewing.
Includes Certificate's of Authenticity and have been stored in custom made boxes since new.
Condition details: Presentation tins show the standard surface stickiness inherent to this particular RAM release (a widely documented manufacturer quirk for this series). Coins are unaffected.
This Southern Sky coin series received significant international numismatic and engineering acclaim for its innovation:
Winner – Best Crown Coin: Krause Publications Coin of the Year Awards (Berlin) for the 2012 Southern Sky - Crux $5 Silver Proof Domed Coin. This coin made history as Australia's first-ever concave/convex domed and colour-printed coin.
Winner – Most Technically Advanced Coin: Mint Directors' Conference (Mexico) for the 2013 Southern Sky - Pavo $5 Fine Silver Proof Domed Coin, recognising the complex technical achievement required to strike the unique curved shape alongside colour printing.
Winner – Excellence in Engineering: Australian Engineering Excellence Award for the 2012 Southern Sky - Crux release, honouring the advanced manufacturing and design processes developed to mint the domed format.
