# Gettit

> Gettit is an Australian online marketplace for buying and selling second-hand items. Prices are in Australian dollars. Shipped orders travel with Australia Post and the buyer's payment is held until delivery and confirmation. Local pickup is free, and sellers can instead offer Secured Pickup, a paid option where the buyer pays through Gettit and the payment is held until the handover.

- **What it is:** Gettit is an online marketplace for buying and selling second-hand items in Australia, operated by Gettit Pty Ltd. It connects buyers and sellers; it is not the seller and is not a party to the sale.
- **Ownership:** Gettit is Australian-owned. Gettit Pty Ltd is owned by Nucleus360, a software company based in Melbourne, Australia. More at [https://gettit.com.au/about](https://gettit.com.au/about).
- **Launch:** Gettit opened to the public on 31 July 2026; national launch was 31 August 2026.
- **Hosting:** Gettit's website, app servers and database run in Sydney, Australia. Some of Gettit's service providers process limited information outside Australia, as the [Privacy Policy](https://gettit.com.au/legal/privacy_policy) explains.
- **Currency:** all prices and fees are in Australian dollars (AUD).
- **Selling is free:** listing an item is free, and sellers pay no fee when an item sells – the seller receives the full item price. Optional extras for sellers, such as boosting a listing, are priced before purchase.
- **Shipped orders:** the seller sends the item with a prepaid, tracked Australia Post label. The buyer pays the item price, postage and a buyer protection fee, all shown at checkout before paying (the Fees Schedule lists every fee). The payment is held and released to the seller after delivery, when the buyer confirms the item or when the 48-hour confirmation window after Australia Post's delivered scan ends without an issue being raised.
- **Gettit Protection:** Gettit's own purchase guarantee for shipped orders paid through Gettit. It covers items that don't arrive or are materially not as described, capped at the amount the buyer paid.
- **Free local pickup:** buyer and seller meet in person and pay each other directly. There are no Gettit fees and no commission. It is a private transaction at the members' own risk and is not covered by Gettit Protection.
- **Secured Pickup (optional):** a seller can offer Secured Pickup instead of free local pickup. The buyer pays through Gettit, including a buyer protection fee shown at checkout before paying, and the payment is held. At the meet-up, once happy with the item, the buyer gives the seller a 6-digit code from the Gettit app, and the payment is released to the seller. Gettit Protection (the guarantee for items that do not arrive or are materially not as described) covers shipped orders only, not Secured Pickup.
- **Payment methods:** card payment, and Afterpay, Klarna or Zip at checkout on eligible orders.
- **Verified members:** every member must verify their email address and mobile number before they can buy, sell or send messages.
- **Seller payouts:** paid through Stripe Connect. A seller completes Stripe's identity check once before they can receive payouts; Gettit does not store identity documents.

## How listings are structured

- Every live listing page carries schema.org `Product` data with a nested `Offer` in the page HTML: name, description, images, brand and model where known, category, condition, price in AUD, availability, URL and general area.
- The price is the seller's asking price for the item. A buyer protection fee and postage, where they apply, are added at checkout.
- Condition is either new (a brand-new item) or used. The listing page also shows the seller's own condition wording.
- Delivery is one of: posted only, collected in person only, or both. Items that cannot be posted, such as e-bikes and e-scooters, are always collect-only.
- Only items that are live and can be bought appear in the sitemap and the structured data. A sold item stays visible as sold out for a short time.
- The fields every machine-readable listing view carries: id, url, title, description, price, condition, brand, model, category, images, availability, delivery, area, listedAt.
- An assistant can find and describe listings; buying, offers and messages happen on the Gettit website or app.
